Norton Security Suite

My Norton Internet Security 2010 says that the Smart firewall is turned off. How can I resolve this?

I have Norton Internet Security 2010 installed onto my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. Is this problem much of a problem, and how could I resolve it? A small Norton was installed onto my laptop when I installed something, I think it was something to do with Flash Player, which I uninstalled. By any chance could this have confused the Norton 2010. Thanks again.
