PC is incredibly slow since installing Norton security suite. What can I do?
Since installing Norton, my PC takes 7-8 minutes to boot and is constantly chugging along with high CPU usage while I'm working on trivial tasks. What can I do to make it more efficient? There don't seem to be many configuration options with Norton (Security Suite?) 2007.

- Norton sucks. You should have gone with McAfee.
- Norton is fine, so is Mcafee. The problem is that the new Norton security suite is a real pig. Unless you are running a fast machine with a gig of RAM, then you will notice the performance hit.
- Unfortunately what the other say is true. Norton really does take up a lot of your computer's resources and slows it down. If you recently purchased it, see if you can get a refund and if so, this is what I recommend you do. 1) Get Kaspersky anti-virus and 2) CounterSpy anti-spyware. These 2 programs work really well together, will not slow your computer down and will catch more than Norton. They are among, if not the very best. Regards, Zyfert http://spyware.cybersprout.com
