Why does norton internet security state antivirus is not protected?

Downloaded Norton Internet Security 2008 through my bank which gives a discount and once downloaded when I brought Norton Security up it stated that anti virus protection is not activated. What went wrong as the download took about an hour and my computer states that I have Norton internet security.

1. i'm sure there are options in it, and a help file.
2. Pls make sure you have updated your Norton, needs to be updated right away after you first install it. If that doesn't solve the problem, pls check all your options to make sure everything is activated properly.
