My computer tells me my symantec is turned off but I will have it up and running at the same time?
I can be updating or running a scan and it still says it. When I click on the error message to turn it on, an administrative (do you want to run this?) message pops up but clicking yes rarely does anything. This happens fairly often and I'm a little tired of it. Any ideas of what is wrong. At first I though it was my windows defender shutting symantec down but I disabled windows defender and it still happens. I would appreciate some advice.

- What is happening is that Windows is checking on boot up to make sure there is an anti-virus program running. You’re getting that message (and the little red shield) when it doesn’t detect anything because SAV hasn’t finished loading yet. The reason it goes away after a few moments is that SAV finishes loading and Windows knows it so it takes the message away. The fact that you can get into SAV and update the definitions is just one indication that it’s running on your machine. If it wasn’t, Windows would be constantly notifying you that there’s no anti-virus there.
