How do I get rid of Norton Internet Security off my computer?

I want to download a trial of AVG antivirus protection, but it will not work because of NIS (Norton Internet Security). What should I do to get rid of this program?

1. Norton removal tool heres a link http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080710133834EN&ln=en_US this is a official tool from norton anything else might get virus and i wouldn't trust them
2. i just removed mine yesterday go to control panel then to programs then to uninstall programs scroll down to norton double click then press remove
3. The only sure way to remove Norton is manually...forget their stupid removal tool...doesn't work....first click on Norton ...then disable it....then go to add/remove programs and remove Norton and Live Update.... Next do a seperate search for all files and folders including hidden ones using these terms......Norton, Symantec, Live update....when the searches are done...click on files and folders and delete all of them..you should have at least 46 or more to delete..............once removed....empty the recycle bin ...restart the computer ...and now Norton is gone..........
