Why does my computer ask if I want to allow Symantec compenent to be added when I have Norton virus software?

A screen is popping up asking me if I will allow symantec component to be added to my compter. I have norton through my cable company downloaded. I told it "do not allow" Is this accurate?

2. Symantic is the update facility for Norton antivirus
3. Symantec owns Norton- since they bought it from Peter Norton a few years ago. My updates say Norton so you may have an old Symantec Network product version installed? The cable co's buy the cheapest versions they can get away with to be able to call it Internet Security but it doen't work very well or update often enough or when you are off line or plug in a USB. There is more info on the Asystematics site. I would be safe and allow the update or for more control and protection get your own Internet Security license.
