- We`ve had Norton installed for over four months and never had a problem......
- It is a very resource heavy program. Depending on your operating system, RAM, what you use your computer for, etc, it can bog down your computer considerably. Here is some info: Some security products are resource hogs. There are a few that don't need as many system resources to run. You can check the amount of current RAM you have (right click My Computer, Properties, General - RAM listed at the bottom). Also remember that everything takes RAM. Not only security products but your operating system, active browser windows, running applications (such as Word, Gaming, Messenger, Photoshop, etc) all require system resources. You can see if your computer can handle more RAM by going to Crucial.com and running a scan. http://www.crucial.com/index.asp
- Norton is a sanctified virus. It takes over your machine and locks it down... If you want a firewall get a router.
- Norton is a resource hog. I use Norton on my company laptop (I have to) I use AVG at home AVG is friendlier and less of a resource hog I could get the full up-to-date Norton suite for free for my home PC, paid for by my company. I told them "No thanks, I prefer the free version of AVG
- it will depend on ur system RAM,processor
- Norton sucks. Is super slow and is bloody difficult to uninstall. I don't use it anymore. Doesn't like firewalls much neither. Oh, and if you use AOL, forget it
- Ya dont take it whatver you do, i work in call centre and get many calls, my computer is so slow blah blah blah!!
- i had this free for a year with sky and had to delete the programme as it slowed my computer that much it kept stopping. however i now have a new computer and dont have any problems with it at all. so who knows ???
- I disabled it on my computer . It kept interferring with my internet access.... in that it wouldn't allow me to log on. No problems since I disabled it.
- All of the software security suites slow your computer down. Some are a lot worse than others. Norton is a nightmare to remove once it's installed. The best solution is a hardware firewall. It protects your PC and there's no performance impact. It's still advisable to have a good virus scanner installed. I use kapersky anti-virus.
- dont install norton on your computer...it goes everywhere..then its difficult to un install. its a monster disguise
- I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.
- at least Norton is Bette than macafee, Norton does slow the computer when scanning but other than that it's OK, but i recommended to you to try AVG for viruses and spy bot search and destroy for spyware and adware and other things
