- Try contacting symantec. If u were having problems with malware, i.e. viruses, real slow computer, etc, and are trying to install a new Norton av program because of this, u probably are infected with a virus or trojan horse that will not let u install it! It happens a lot. In that case, have someone else download Adaware from www.lavasoft.com and Spybot and burn to a cd for u. Then copy, not run!, these programs to your desktop, and restart in safe mode. FOr winxp go to start, run, type in msconfig and go to the "boot.ini" tab and enable "safe boot" When u are all done fidgeting with all this dont forget to go back in there and unable it or it will keep starting in safe mode. Once in sage mode, open up and install adaware and spybot and run them. U may have to run them 5 or more times as they tend to clean things out a little at a time. They will stall a lot and take a long time each time and u will have to reboot a lot but eventually u will get a clean bill of health (no spyware found message at the end of the scans). Then go back into msconfig and disable the safe boot and when it tells u u are running in diagnostic form click the little box so it well not tell u this. Then try to install and run Norton again. It should then work and clean out any remaining malware. But then again, if u were not having problems befor installing Norton, forget the above and just contact them.
