How to perform a Symantec Antivirus boot scan / start up scan ?

I have an updated Symantec Endpoint Protection. I am wondering how to perform virus scan with it at the start up?.Because many viruses are not detected while the operating system is running.I expect a proper procedure and commands.I tried searching elsewhere but didnt understand.

1. no idea about symantec antivirus, but possible with AVAST home edition antivirus
